Veteran Hiroyuki Fujita defeated South Korea's Park Sang-hyun in a playoff to win his third Tsuruya Open title on Sunday.

Fujita, who last won this tournament in 2012, reeled off six birdies against a double bogey in a 67 at the par-71 Yamanohara Golf Club to finish tied with Park in regulation at 13-under 271.

The 44-year-old sealed victory when he saved par on the first playoff hole to take his first title since the 2012 season-ending Nippon Series JT Cup.

"Not even in my dreams did I think I would get this result so I am delighted," said Fujita.

Injury dented Fujita's preparations for the 2013 season and he finished the campaign without a victory for the first time since 2007.

"Last season was really difficult for me and I have really tried hard to put that disappointment behind me," he said.
