Boston Red Sox closer Koji Uehara's stiff right shoulder does not appear to be serious.

The Red Sox have announced that Uehara will have tests on the shoulder Monday in Boston, but the 39-year-old reliever said he felt better than expected after going through his usual pregame routine on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

If the tests come back clean, Uehara, who was out for the weekend against the Yankees, will rejoin the team Tuesday in Chicago for the start of a three-game series against the White Sox.

"I was able to throw more than I thought I could," Uehara said.
