Noriaki Kasai, who won a pair of medals at the Sochi Olympics, said Monday he will strive to win the overall World Cup title.
Speaking at Narita airport before departing for Europe and the next competition on the World Cup circuit, Kasai admitted he had a tough road ahead of him.
“Now I’m in third place,” said Kasai, who won a silver in the large hill and a bronze in the team competition. “It’s said to be as difficult as winning an Olympic gold medal, but I want to strive to win the overall (World Cup) title.”
Since returning to Japan from Sochi last Thursday, Kasai hasn’t had any real rest due to a number of commitments, but said he was doing OK.
“I’m not fatigued,” he said. “I’m kind of ashamed at the response, but I’m just so happy.”
