Japan won the women's team event in ski jumping on Wednesday at the junior world ski championships.

The team of defending World Cup champion Sara Takanashi, and fellow Sochi Olympians Yuki Ito and Yurina Yamada, and Haruka Iwasa seized gold with 919.0 points. It was Japan's second junior world team title and its first in two years after finishing fifth a year ago.

"Everyone was doing good things, one after the other, so when I took off, I was only focused on my own jump," said Takanashi, who is the favorite to win the first Olympic medal for women in the sport next month in Sochi.

The victory comes two days after Takanashi won an unprecedented third straight individual junior worlds gold. In the team event, Takanashi landed jumps of 104.5 and 99 meters on the HS-106, K-95 hill as Japan edged second-place Slovenia by 48.8 points.

"Because this is a gold medal we all won together, I'm happier with this than my individual win," Takanashi said.
