Teenage sprinter Yoshihide Kiryu is leaning toward running the 60 meters in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March, he said Tuesday.

Kiryu, who ran the 100 meters in 10.01 seconds last April 29, was attending an awards ceremony when he expressed his intentions. The world indoors will be held in Sopot, Poland.

The youngster, who will enter Toyo University this spring, will also run the 60 meters at the Japan Junior Indoors Osaka meet on Feb. 8. It will be the first time for Kiryu to run the 60.

"I'm looking forward to doing this," Kiryu said. "I want to get my feel for racing back and see just how much I can accelerate in the first half of the race."
