Ryo Aono won the men's halfpipe gold medal and Rana Okada led a Japanese sweep of the podium in the women's competition at a snowboard freestyle World Cup meet in Stoneham, Quebec, on Saturday.

Aono grabbed his first World Cup title of the season and 10th of his career with 92.00 points, finishing ahead of Switzerland's Jan Scherrer (85.25) and Australian Scotty James (84.50).

Okada scored her first win with 86.50 points, Yuki Furihata earned 82.25 for second place and Hikaru Oe was third with 78.25.
