Sochi Olympic gold medal hopeful Sara Takanashi posted her seventh World Cup win of the season on Saturday in a competition that was cut to one round of jumps.

The 17-year-old from Hokkaido fell after landing on her first jump, but her distance of 104 meters was good enough for a 16th career victory with 110.8 points. Compatriot Yuki Ito was second and Germany's Carina Vogt was third.

"I'm glad I could win with so many fans on hand," Takanashi said. "The difficult wind conditions made for a difficult competition."

Takanashi tied men's veteran Noriaki Kasai for the most World Cup wins by a Japanese ski jumper.

Strong winds led to the meet being cut during the second round of jumps on the K-90 hill.

"I'm glad I could complete one jump," Takanashi said. "I gave my best effort in that jump, but it's too bad I couldn't seal the victory in the landing area."

Nineteen-year-old Ito, who will also be competing in Sochi, jumped 96.5 meters and scored 109.4 points for second place, while Vogt jumped 93 meters for third with 108.1.

Kaori Iwabuchi was ninth, Seiko Koasa was 18th, Ayumi Watase finished 22nd, Yoshiko Yoshiizumi took 24th and Misaki Shigeno placed 27th.
