Japan international Keisuke Honda landed in Italy on Saturday to begin his Serie A career with AC Milan.

A crowd of around 200, including both fans and media, welcomed the bleach-blond midfielder as he arrived at Malpensa Airport wearing sunglasses and the Milan club suit.

Honda was greeted by huge cheers as he came through the arrivals lobby. Surrounded by security, he saluted fans but did not make any comment at the airport before being whisked away in a waiting car.

He said in a statement on Milan's official website that his move to the Serie A is a dream come true.

"I'm happy to be here and I'm very excited," Honda said. "I'm ready to play. I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates. I think I have a lot to offer the team.

"I've been waiting here for today for a long time. It's a dream come true for me — AC Milan are a legendary club for me and I supported them as a child."
