Baltimore Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said Saturday the team is not interested in retaining free agent left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada.

The Orioles had initially considered signing Wada to a minor league contract, but Duquette said there is no chance of that now.

Wada never pitched for the club in the majors after signing a two-year, $8.15 million contract in 2012. He underwent Tommy John surgery in May the same year and spent 2013 in Triple-A.

Wada spent all of his career in Japan in Fukuoka, where he pitched for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, who became the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in 2005. The lefty posted a career record of 107-61 with a 3.13 ERA in nine seasons in Japan.
