Two-time women's world champion Miki Ando booked a spot on Monday in Japan's qualifying tournament for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Ando, who has returned to competition after giving birth to a daughter in April, finished second with 147.21 points in the Eastern Japan Figure Skating Championships in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture. Ando, who was 13th in Sunday's short program, won Monday's free skate. The top five finishers earned a spot in December's All Japan Championships, which will be used to select the figure skating squad for the Sochi Games in February.

Ando took gold at the 2007 world championships in Tokyo and again in 2011 in Moscow.
