Infielder Munenori Kawasaki's luck has yet to run out. After just two days back in the minors, the Toronto Blue Jays need him for duty again.

Kawasaki, who was optioned on Tuesday to make room for Jose Reyes after the Blue Jays star shortstop returned from a severe ankle sprain, was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Kawasaki, whose fun-loving and goofy personality has endeared with fans and made him a favorite among his teammates, will replace Melky Cabrera with the outfielder headed for the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis.

Kawasaki has one home run and 17 RBIs with a .225 batting average in 60 games in his second year in the majors.
