Free-agent Vicente Padilla, who went 4-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 56 relief appearances with the Boston Red Sox last season, has signed a one-year, $3.25 million deal with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, according to a report on MLB.com.

The 35-year-old veteran right-hander was an All-Star in 2002 with the Philadelphia Phillies, when he went 14-11 with a 3.28 ERA.

He has also pitched for the Texas Rangers, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 14-year major league career and has a career record of 108-91 with a 4.32 ERA.
