A scheduled meeting between the commissioners of Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball has been called off after Japan's commissioner, Ryozo Kato, took ill while traveling in the United States, NPB said Thursday.

Kato was to meet MLB commissioner Bud Selig on Thursday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but their talk was canceled after the former fell ill due to fatigue. The 71-year-old former Japanese ambassador to the United States has not been hospitalized.
