Gymnast Kohei Uchimura, who added an Olympic gold medal in the men's overall competition to his trophy case this summer, announced on Monday that he and his wife are expecting their first child.
Uchimura, who has won three consecutive world championship overall gold medals, issued the news through his corporate sponsor, Konami. He was married in November.
"I am able to inform you that we are expecting our first child next spring and that I will be spending quality time looking after my wife," the statement said.
