The Yomiuri Giants advanced to the final of the Asia Series on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over South Korea's Lotte Giants that decided the top spot in Group B.

The Giants will take on Taiwan's champs, the Lamigo Monkeys in Sunday's final.

Yomiuri right-hander Hirokazu Sawamura held Lotte, the tournament host, to four hits in seven innings, and Shuichi Murata broke the ice with a first-inning RBI single. Yomiuri improved to 2-0 in the group stage, while Lotte fell to 1-1.

The Monkeys defeated 2011 champion Samsung 3-0 to clinch victory in Group A. The Lamigo franchise, formerly known as the La New Bears, will be playing its second final. The Bears lost the 2006 final to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters 1-0 at Tokyo Dome. No Taiwan team has won the Asia Series.
