The Japan Swimming Federation on Wednesday announced plans to send only Mai Nakagawa to the diving program of the London Olympics this summer.

The 24-year-old Nakagawa will make her second consecutive Olympic appearance after finishing 11th in the 10-meter platform at the Beijing Games.

Sho Sakai and Ken Terauchi won Olympic berths for Japan at the World Cup last month, but the federation decided not to send them to London amid expectations that the men would not be able to perform well against the world's top divers.

The federation required Japanese divers at the World Cup to finish in the top three among those who had not secured their Olympic spots at the FINA World Championships last summer in Shanghai.
