Kudo becomes professional golfer


Haruka Kudo, the eldest daughter of professional baseball player Kimiyasu Kudo, was among 20 golfers who passed a test to become a Japanese professional golfer after the final round at the Grandage Golf Club on Thursday.

The 18-year-old Haruka, who was in 48th place on Wednesday, shot a 6-under 66 in her final round to finish at 1-over in ninth place on the third day of the pro test held by the Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association of Japan. The top 20 made the cut at 4-over 220.

Thailand’s Onnarin Sattayabanphot finished atop the leaderboard at 9-under and has gained entry into 11 tournaments on the Japanese women’s tour this season.
