Reigning gymnastics world champion Kohei Uchimura got off to a flying start in pursuit of his third consecutive NHK Cup title on Saturday, producing the highest score of 92.250 points, despite a fall on the horizontal bar in men's individual all-around.

Uchimura stands in the lead at the meet at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which doubles as the final qualifier for the world championships being held this October in Tokyo, with a total of 186.700, taking into account half of his points earned at the national championships in April.
