Sprinter Shingo Suetsugu, who helped Japan claim the bronze medal in the men's 4x100-meter relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, said Saturday he is ready to race again and looks set to make his comeback this season.

"I can't say exactly which race I will run but I feel like I want to make my comeback really soon," Suetsugu told reporters at a track and field clinic in Ishikawa Prefecture.

The 30-year-old has been on indefinite break since the autumn of 2009 citing fatigue. He started full training in his hometown of Kumamoto in February as he aims to return to competition.

"I'm still only doing basics but I'm training so much more than a year ago that I can't even compare it," said Suetsugu, who also has his sights on a place at next year's London Olympics.
