RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (Kyodo) Chie Arimura and compatriot Mika Miyazato failed to make up any substantial ground in the final round as American Stacy Lewis rallied for her maiden victory at the Kraft Nabisco Championship on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Lewis carded a 3-under 69 in the final round of the first major of the year, giving her a three-shot victory over defending champion Yani Tseng of Taiwan at 13-under 275 and the $300,000 winner's check at Mission Hills Country Club.

Arimura made two birdies against four bogeys, while Miyazato had three birdies offset by five bogeys.

"I know how important the final nine holes are in a major, but this was the best score I could manage. I didn't have enough power. The level of my shots is still far from where it needs to be," said Arimura, who came close to her first U.S. LPGA Tour victory at the HSBC Women's Champions in late February.
