FORT MYERS, Fla. (Kyodo) Daisuke Matsuzaka turned in his strongest performance of the spring Saturday, ending Tsuyoshi Nishioka's hitting streak in the process in the Boston Red Sox's 9-8 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Matsuzaka allowed one run and five hits while striking out four and issuing one walk in six innings, but reliever Bobby Jenks struggled and gave up six runs in the ninth as the Twins rallied for victory.

"My pitching was flat but I somehow managed to limit them," said Matsuzaka. "There wasn't anything particularly special about the way I pitched today."

Nishioka went 0-for-3 and saw his hitting streak end at 13 games. He flied out and grounded out twice.
