Tomoko Fukumi prevailed in the women's 48-kg class as Japanese judoka won five gold medals Saturday at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix.

Fukumi defeated Charline Van Snick of Belgium in the final while world champion Yoshie Ueno was a winner over Israel's Alice Schlesinger in the women's 63-kg event.

There were also gold medals for Yuka Nishida in the women's 52 kg and Hiroaki Hiraoka and Masaaki Fukuoka in the men's 60- and 66-kg divisions, respectively.

In the women's 57-kg, Kaori Matsumoto finished runnerup to Brazilian Rafaela Silva while Yuki Nishiyama was third in the men's 73 kg.
