Two-time double Olympic breaststroke champion Kosuke Kitajima will compete at the Short Course National Swimming Championships in Tokyo later this month, sources said Thursday.

Kitajima is entered in the 50, 100 and 200 races at the Feb. 26 to 27 championships in what will be his first appearance in the event since 2008.

At time trials in Long Beach, Calif., last month, the 28-year-old won his first race since he failed to medal at the Asian Games in November

A rusty Kitajima finished fourth in both the 50 and 100 meters at the Asian Games before withdrawing from the 200 because of poor condition.
