BOSTON (Kyodo) Left-hander Hideki Okajima reached an agreement Friday with the Boston Red Sox on a one-year contract, according to MLB.com.

Okajima was non-tendered by Boston following the season and was reportedly considering returning to Japan. Instead, he has elected to stay with the Red Sox, having joined them in 2007.

In 2010, the 35-year-old Okajima went 4-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 56 appearances. In four years in the majors he has a 16-8 record with six saves and a 3.06 ERA.
