The Yomiuri Giants said Thursday they have signed infielder Rusty Ryal, who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks this past season.

Ryal, 27, has agreed to a one-year deal worth ¥100 million.

The Oklahoma native, who was promoted to the major leagues last season, is the son of Mark Ryal, who played two seasons with the Chunichi Dragons.

The younger Ryal batted .261 with three home runs in 104 games this season with Arizona. The Giants are hoping to use him as a third baseman.
