Japan faded in the second half and went down 13-10 to fellow 2011 World Cup qualifiers Samoa in a rugby test match in Tokyo on Saturday.

Ryukoliniasi Holani scored a seventh-minute try to help Japan take a 10-0 lead at the break but the Brave Blossoms were put on the back foot in the second period at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground.

Lolo Lui pulled the Samoans back into the game with two penalty goals and converted a try by Kahn Fotualii to complete victory and avenge a 31-23 loss at home to the Japanese back in June.
