North Korean international Ryang Yong Gi scored twice as Vegalta Sendai collected three crucial points to climb out of the drop zone with a 2-0 home victory over Montedio Yamagata on Sunday.

Ryang struck on either side of halftime — a 28th-minute free kick followed by his second in open play on 76 minutes — as Vegalta moved up the J. League first division table to 13th, steering clear of the relegation berth by three points with their third win in four games.
