VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Snowboardcross racer Yuka Fujimori, who banged her head in a training accident on Friday, is questionable for the women’s competition getting under way at the Vancouver Olympics on Tuesday.
Snowboarding team coach Fumikazu Hagiwara said Sunday he will make a final decision on whether the 23-year-old will compete on the day of the event being held at Cypress Mountain.
Fujimori was hospitalized overnight for observation after a crash in an official practice on the opening day of the Olympics, but a detailed examination found no series injuries.
But Hagiwara said Fujimori, who finished seventh at the Turin Games, was still complaining of pain on the right side of her head and abdominal tightness when she came to inspect the course on Sunday.
