TOYOTA, Aichi Pref. (Kyodo) Japan defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka vowed to respond to expectations at Nagoya Grampus after he was unveiled by the J. League club along with midfielder Mu Kanazaki on Sunday.

"I have to respond to very high expectations here and I want to turn that pressure into power," said Tulio, who joins Nagoya in a high profile move after six seasons with 2006 league champion Urawa Reds.

Tulio, whose relationship with Urawa had become strained in recent years, opted to join Nagoya after being linked with English Premier League club Wigan Athletic and Dutch side FC Twente.

Kanazaki, meanwhile, said he hopes to raise his game after joining Nagoya from relegated Oita Trinita.

"I have joined Nagoya to move up a level. There will be pressure but I am very excited," said the 20-year-old. "I'll try hard to help the team win the league championship."
