OSAKA – Yu Darvish won his fifth straight decision with eight solid innings as the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters beat the Orix Buffaloes 4-2 on Friday.
Darvish (5-1) held the struggling Buffaloes to two runs and six hits with a walk and four strikeouts at Kyocera Dome. Hisashi Takeda closed out the ninth for his eighth save.
Nippon Ham built a 3-0 lead on Eiichi Koyano’s two-run double in the third inning and Kensuke Tanaka’s RBI single in the fourth before Orix pulled within a run in the bottom half.
Terrmel Sledge added a sacrifice fly for the Fighters in the fifth.
Shinya Nakayama (0-4) lasted only 2 2/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season.

At Kleenex Stadium, Satoru Morimoto and Munenori Kawasaki each had RBI singles in the top of the 10th as Softbank handed Tohoku Rakuten its fourth loss in five games.

At Chiba Marine Stadium, Hideaki Wakui pitched his first shutout in two years as Saitama Seibu routed Chiba Lotte for its fourth straight win.
Takahiko G.G. Sato got Seibu on the board with a two-run double and Hiram Bocachica added a three-run homer to cap a five-run fourth against Shunsuke Watanabe (1-4).
Seibu batted around to score eight runs in the seventh and finished with 17 hits. Wakui (4-1) scattered four hits, walked four and struck out five.

At Nagoya Dome, Hirokazu Ibata doubled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to give Chunichi a “sayonara” victory over Yokohama.
After Motonobu Tanishige drew a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, Ibata laced a double over the outstretched glove of left fielder Seiichi Uchikawa for the decisive blow.
Dragons hurler Kazuki Yoshimi (3-2) struck out 13 batters over 10 shutout innings with no walks. Yuya Ishii (0-4) was charged with the loss. Yokohama’s Daisuke Miura worked eight inning of scoreless ball, allowing five hits while striking out four, walking one and hitting a batter.
