OSAKA (Kyodo) World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman is trying to get former WBC bantamweight champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi banned from boxing in Thailand due to concerns over his health, boxing sources said Friday.

Tatsuyoshi, whose boxing license expired last September, is not permitted to fight in Japan.

Sulaiman has sent an e-mail to the Japan Boxing Commission, asking that it take Tatsuyoshi's health management as a top priority and censure the Thai side for not taking concerns about the 38-year-old's health into account.
