SAN JOSE, Calif. (Kyodo) Kei Nishikori crashed out of the SAP Open on Thursday, losing to second-seeded Juan Martin del Potro 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.

Nishikori had his serve broken in the opening games of both sets and was unable to turn the tide against the hard-serving Argentine at HP Pavilion.

The 19-year-old smacked a ball into the stands in frustration at one stage. His first-serve percentage was less than 20 percent in the second set.

“I couldn’t find my rhythm and made a lot of unforced errors,” Nishikori said.
