KOLOMNA, Russia (Kyodo) Japan's Keiichiro Nagashima came second in the men's 500 meters at a World Cup speed skating meet in Russia on Sunday.

Nagashima clocked 34.87 seconds, 0.06 behind Tucker Fredricks of the United States, a day after picking up his third World Cup win of the season.

Saturday's runnerup Yu Fengtong came third in 34.89.

Tadashi Obara placed seventh in 35.29. Former world record-holder Joji Kato (35.40) and Yuya Oikawa (35.41) were ninth and 10th on the final day of the two-day event.

In the women's 500, Germany's Jenny Wolf picked up her second win in as many days and her eighth victory of the season in 37.67, 0.34 ahead of China's Jin Peiyu.
