Toyama Grouses power forward Rodney Webb, the team's leading scorer, helped the Grouses record their first winning streak of the season, which ended at three games with Sunday's loss to the Tokyo Apache at Ariake Colosseum. Webb played a big part in extending the streak to three, scoring a game-high 31 points and pulling down nine rebounds in Toyama's 104-83 win on Saturday.

Webb is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced on Tuesday, two days after his 19-point, eight-rebound, two-assist, one-steal, one-block effort in the Grouses' final game of 2008.

In related news, Takamatsu Five Arrows power forward Gordon James has earned the league's December MVP award. The league's two-time rebounding champ ended the month with averages of 21.0 points and 16.0 rebounds.

James helped the Five Arrows improve to 14-6 at week's end. Takamatsu trails the Ryukyu Golden Kings by two games in the Western Conference standings.
