Nagoya Grampus defender Shohei Abe has been added to the Japan squad for its Asian Cup qualifier at home to Yemen on Jan. 20, the Japan Football Association said Friday.
Abe, who played all 34 league matches this past season, has been called up to the national team for the first time since a training camp in July.
The 24-man squad will start a camp in Kagoshima on Jan. 10 ahead of the qualifier in Kumamoto.
