NEW YORK (Kyodo) New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday outfielder Hideki Matsui will not be ready to play for Japan at next year's World Baseball Classic.
Matsui, 34, was placed on the disabled list with an injured left knee from June 27 to Aug. 18 and underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair ligament damage in the knee in September.
