Departing Japanese midfielder Daisuke Matsui scored twice to lead Le Mans to a 3-2 win at home Lens in the French first division on Saturday.

Matsui put the home side in front with a 20th-minute volley and fired home in the 25th to complete his brace and take his league goal tally for the season to five.

Matsui said the same day he has informed Le Mans of his intention to leave the club at the end of the season. The 26-year-old is expected to look for a new club in Europe.

“I know one of my choices is to stay and hope we get better as a team, but I want to further my career and continue to test myself,” Matsui said.
