Japanese pair finishes third


Miki Saiki eagled the par-5 18th hole in Sunday’s betterball round to help Japan finish tied for third place with Taiwan at the Women’s World Cup of Golf. Teeing off in fifth place, Saiki and Shinobu Moromizato matched the day’s best score with a 7-under 65 and ended the 54-hole event at 13-under 203 at the Gary Player Country Club. The Philippines also closed with a 65 to win by two strokes over South Korea. “I was up to my elbows but managed to enjoy the tournament without giving up,” said Moromizato, referring to her pair’s 66-72-65 performance. “I realized I have grown since the previous tournament.”
