Tochimoto rallies to win TVh Cup

Teenage ski jumper Shohei Tochimoto came from behind to edge veteran Noriaki Kasai for his first TVh Cup title on Sunday. The 18-year-old Tochimoto jumped 135 meters on his first attempt to place second to Kasai, who had the day’s longest leap of 142 meters, before overcoming the deficit with a 137.5-meter effort in the second round at the K-120 Okurayama hill in Hokkaido. Tochimoto earned a total of 291.5 points while Kasai, the UHB Cup winner a day earlier, settled for second on 287.9 points after a 131-meter jump on his second attempt proved short. Takanobu Okabe was third on 283.4 points.
