Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura could make a possible return to J. League first-division club Yokohama F Marinos after the new year, soccer sources said Saturday.

Nakamura's contract with Scottish Premier League club Celtic concludes in June and Yokohama are preparing for talks with the 29-year-old Japan international as early as January.

"He left our club in the first place and if he decides to come back to Japan, we would love to have him play for us again," said a Yokohama senior official.

Nakamura joined Italian first-division club Reggina from Yokohama F Marinos in 2002 and helped Celtic to two consecutive league championships after his transfer to the Scottish club in the summer of 2005.
