Koji Morisaki converted two free kicks Saturday as relegated Sanfrecce Hiroshima beat Jubilo Iwata 2-0 to reach the Emperor's Cup quarterfinals. Morisaki put Hiroshima in front in the 19th minute when he curled a shot over the wall and into the right-hand corner, leaving Japan goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi stranded. The midfielder doubled the home side's lead in the 52nd minute with another superb free kick from outside the box in a fifth-round tie at Hiroshima Big Arch. Hiroshima advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time in five Emperor Cups and will meet FC Tokyo on Dec. 23. The quarter and semifinals will be held in December before the final at Tokyo's National Stadium draws the Japanese soccer season to a close.
