Yokohama F. Marinos squeaked past Ehime FC 1-0 while last season's beaten finalist Shimizu S-Pulse overpowered non-league Tochigi SC 6-4 to move into the fifth round of the Emperor's Cup on Sunday.

Yokohama was made to fight all the way by second-division Ehime at Mitsuzawa Stadium but Brazilian striker Marques pounced to steer home a loose ball in extra time to book its place in the last 16.

Marquinhos scored twice for S-Pulse at Nihondaira Stadium, where all 10 goals came in the last half hour, while FC Tokyo was the biggest winner on a day free of upsets as Lucas, Yuta Baba and Norio Suzuki bagged two each in a 7-0 demolition of amateur side Banditonce Kobe.

In other matches, Daisuke Takahashi scored his first hat-trick since turning professional as Oita Trinita crushed Thespa Kusatsu 4-1 while Nagoya Grampus Eight saw off Vegalta Sendai 1-0 courtesy of Frode Johnsen's 33rd-minute strike.

Ventforet Kofu came from behind to beat Montedio Yamagata 3-2 and Omiya Ardija ensured it will be an all-first division affair in the fifth round after a late goal from Manabu Wakabayashi gave it a 2-1 win over YKK AP.

Urawa Reds began its defense of the trophy with a 5-0 drubbing of Shizuoka FC on Saturday.
