Yokohama F. Marinos striker Marques will return to his native Brazil for treatment on his left knee, the J. League first-division club said Tuesday.

The 33-year-old former Atletico Mineiro forward said he felt discomfort in his knee after Yokohama’s 2-0 defeat to lowly Cerezo Osaka on Saturday. He will leave for Brazil on Thursday.

No date has been set for his return to Japan. The news comes as another blow for Yokohama manager Takeshi Okada after World Cup defender Yuji Nakazawa was told Monday he would be out for up to three weeks with a calf injury.
