The Oakland Athletics said Tuesday they have designated right-hander Kazuhito Tadano for assignment.
The 26-year-old Tadano was 0-2 with a 9.62 ERA in nine games, including three starts, at Triple-A Sacramento before the A's move "to clear a spot on the 40-man roster."
Tadano owns a 1-1 career record and a 4.47 ERA in 15 games for the Cleveland Indians in 2004-05. He was traded to the A's on April 4 this year in exchange for minor league outfielder Ramon Alvarado.
