Japan striker Atsushi Yanagisawa is considering a move back to former club Kashima Antlers from Italian Serie A side Messina, his agent revealed Wednesday.

"It seems as though Kashima are hoping he will come back and Yanagisawa is also giving it some thought," agent Oberto Petricca said, adding that the player is set to hold talks with Kashima officials when he returns to Japan at the end of the year.

Yanagisawa has not started for Messina this season and after Sunday's 4-0 defeat at AC Milan he hinted at the possibility of a move back to the J. League club.

"As a footballer it is something that I must think about," Yanagisawa said.

The 28-year-old joined Messina in summer last year after an unhappy spell at Sampdoria, where he failed to score a single goal in 18 league and cup matches with the Genoa-based club.
