Spanish second-division side Castellon said Thursday they have acquired Japanese forward Kenji Fukuda in a contract that runs through next June. The deal makes Fukuda, 28, the second Japanese player in Spain this season, joining striker Yoshito Okubo of first-division side Mallorca. Fukuda has played J. League sides Nagoya Grampus Eight, FC Tokyo and Vegalta Sendai. This year, he played for Mexican clubs Pachuca and Irapuato on loan from Sendai.
