Yuka Kamino won the women's 1,000 meters at the short track single-distance national championships Sunday, completing a sweep of three titles for the third straight year.

Kamino set a meet record of 1 minute, 33.953 seconds at Teisan Ice Skate Training Center in Nagano Prefecture as the 24-year-old added to the 1,500 and 500 titles she won the previous two days.

"I gained confidence after having my kind of race in the 1,500 on the opening day. I tried to show all I've got each time and that might've led to this sweep," Kamino said.

Kamino's strong showing at the championships all but assured her a place in the Olympic Games in Turin in February.

Nobuko Yamada came second in 1:34.829 and Ikue Teshigawara was third in 1:34.847.

In the men's 1,000, Hayato Sueyoshi won in a meet-record 1:28.748. Shinichi Tagami came across the line in 1:29.076 for second and Takahiro Fujimoto took third in 1:29.690.

Veteran Satoru Terao tumbled to fourth after winning the 1,500- and 500-meter races.

Five members each for the men's and women's Olympic teams will be selected on the basis of the results of the single-distance championships and the Dec. 18-19 national championships.
