Toru Taniguchi fired a 4-under-par 68 to take sole possession of the lead Saturday, putting him one shot clear of Kim Jong Duck of South Korea after the third round of the Casio World Open. Taniguchi, looking for his first win this season and 10th of his career, reeled off five birdies against one bogey, taking him to 8-under 208 a day after U.S. teen sensation Michelle Wie failed to make the cut by one stroke against the men at Kochi Kuroshio Country Club.

MIYAZAKI (Kyodo) Shiho Oyama struggled to a 3-over-par 75 but clung onto the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the season-ending Japan LPGA Tour Championship on Saturday. Oyama managed just one birdie against four bogeys for a 54-hole total of 4-under 212, while Yuri Fudo stayed on course to clinch her sixth consecutive money title after a 72 that moved her into second place.
