Japanese Olympic weightlifter Hiromi Miyake set three national records Sunday on her way to a silver-medal finish in the women's 48-kilogram class at the East Asian Games.

Miyake hoisted 81 kg in the snatch, 110 kg in the lean and jerk for a total of 191 kg -- all national marks -- in finishing runnerup to China's Yang Lian, who won the gold with 207 kg in total.

"It'll take some time to catch up with Chinese lifters but this result is a confidence boost for me because I lifted 20 more kilograms than I did one year ago," said Miyake, who usually competes in the 53-kg category.

"I decided to take part in the 48-kg class this time two days ago because I needed to lose just one kilogram," she added.
