Hitoshi Taneda and Shuichi Murata homered to power the Yokohama BayStars past the Hiroshima Carp on Thursday as the Central League club snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory.

Daisuke Miura (8-8) pitched one-run ball over the distance and held the opposition to just four hits to set the pace at Hiroshima Stadium.

After Yokohama went ahead 1-0 in the first inning, Taneda hit a two-run blast followed by Murata's solo shot, both off Tom Davey (5-4), to make it 4-0 in the third.

Giants 8, Swallows 4

In Tokyo, Hiroki Kokubo and Tomohiro Nioka went deep and drove in seven runs between them, helping Yomiuri to a convincing victory over Yakult at Jingu Stadium.

Kokubo hit his 30th homer of the season, a two-run drive to key a three-run first inning. Yakult cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom half before Nioka connected for a three-run shot to extend the lead to 6-2 in the third. Nioka was 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

Kentaro Nishimura (2-1) limited the damage to three runs in 6 1/3 innings for the win. Ryo Kawashima (9-10) was chased in just one-third of an inning after allowing three runs.
